Struan Bread by Tapa bakehouseStruan

Traditionally baked throughout the Western Isles to celebrate the harvest, our Struan is rich with organic grains, seeds, milk and honey. Struan keeps for up to two weeks in a bag or terracotta bread bin at room temperature. It makes lovely toast.

Ingredients: Wholemeal wheat flour*, milk*, honey*, millet*, cracked wheat*, linseed*, oats*, sesame seed*, egg glaze*, poppy seed*, salt*, yeast (* denotes organically produced)

Light Wholemeal

This is a 50/50 mix of organic white and stoneground wholemeal flours, made with saved dough and a long fermentation for extra softness & flavour. Fantastic for sandwiches, toast and kids, this bread comes regular or family sized.

Rye & Caraway

A great chewy crust, lots of caraway and a lovely sour rye tang; this bread is great with lox, salami, pastrami, corned beef, sauerkraut & cheese. We make them large and small.

Ingredients: water, organic wheat flour, Scottish stoneground organic rye flour (30%), organic caraway seed, sea salt, yeast.

Light Rye

This classic county bread has a chewy crust and an open texture. Makes great toast, excellent bruschetta, fantastic sandwiches...what doesn't this bread do well?

East End Medium Rye

tapa bakehouse medium ryeSerious bread! A well-fired loaf with a good crust and no-nonsense centre. This is a great base for eggs Florentine and also makes a mighty mature cheddar & red onion sandwich,

Ingredients: Water, organic wheat flour, Scottish stoneground organic rye flour, organic wholemeal flour, sea salt, yeast.

Sourdough

A chewy crust and a tangy, moist interior make this the perfect loaf for poached eggs. It has excellent keeping qualities and a hearty, rustic appearance.

Multigrain

A complete bread packed with seeds and grains. Try it toasted to bring out the sesame flavour.

Light as air and gently flavoured with organic extra virgin olive oil and rosemary, olives or sun-dried tomatoes. Dunk it in olive oil and enjoy or split it, stuff full of tasty treats and toast it to crispy perfection.

Baguette

A classic full-flavoured baguette with an excellent crust and soft interior full of holes. Best to eat it on the day it's made but can be frozen and reheated or turned into garlic bread or crostini later.

Batard

A classic white loaf with a soft crust baked on the sole of the oven in the traditional way. This makes great fried bread for tapas, excellent bruschetta and is nice toasted as a base for poached eggs.

It's just so hard to find a good bagel these days! Ours are proper bagels shaped by hand, poached in malted water and baked to give a glossy, chewy crust and dense, moist interior. We're confident you'll taste the difference and will never settle for anything less.

Ingredients: organic wheat flour, water, organic sunflower oil, yeast, organic malt extract, salt.

Brioche

Perfect buttery brioche – lovely served warm with a touch of jam or eaten just as it is. Ingredients: organic wheat flour, organic butter, organic eggs, organic milk, organic sugar, yeast, sea salt. Cornbread Cornmeal gives this loaf a sunny yellow glow. It is a soft round loaf with a delightful crumbliness. Make terrific cheese-on-toast and is at its best dunked into a steaming bowl of spicy chilli.

Pane Italiano

A crusty loaf made the traditional way – stonebaked after a long proving time that gives the bread a slight sourness. Lovely smeared with butter.

The Great White Organic Loaf

Toast, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, French toast – this versatile loaf does it all. A traditional tin loaf with more flavour and goodness than your average sliced white and none of the fat, soy, or chemical improvers. What's not to love?

A more-ish Irish classic that breaks into four farls for easy sharing. It is made without yeast.

Cinnamon fruit bread

A spicy fruit loaf that makes wonderful toast.

Ingredients: stoneground organic wholemeal flour, water, organic wheat flour, organic sultanas, organic raisins, organic margarine, yeast, sea salt, organic cinnamon.

A rich tea bread made with milk and butter and speckled with blue poppy seeds. Eat it just as it is, slathered in butter or as a luxurious base for scrambled eggs.
